Anthurium Hybrid: “Carla Pink”

zaraxmichelle f2 x carlablackiae

#Anthuriumcarlapink is the Batch ID I assigned to the crossing of my Anthurium ZaraxMichelle F2 and my Anthurium Carlablackiae. These babies resemble round, bright pink veined-emerging-leaf Carlas. This cross blew away my expectations. It took the round shape and pink veins on the emergent from ZxM mom, and then morphs into the white minimal veins from dad upon hardening off, maintaining that rounded shape. This is the F1 generation and I’ll certainly re-release these as an F2 generation in the future, continuing to refine the cross.

Mom is my electric pink ZaraxMichelle F2 from Doc Block and pollen donor is my dark Carlablackiae which is a selfing of Franco’s (IL Exotics) Carla via Rory years ago. Both parents are vigorous specimens that hold on to many leaves at a time while flowering, with spectacular coloration and red/ pink emergents. So far, their babies show this same vigor.
