6 Things YOU DIDN’T KNOW Rare Plant Collectors Do
Here are 6 things that some rare plant collectors do because of their plants that may be a bit…rare for one to do:
1. Purchase insurance for their collection : the value of these plants add up, especially as they grow!
2. Install home security cameras/ doorbell cameras: this is especially important for safety if people come to your house to buy cuttings of rare plants from Facebook marketplace, or if you run an online rare plant shop.
3. Make plans for their plants should anything happen to them rendering them unable to care for them. Your plants don’t care if you have a health crisis, they keep on demanding that their needs be met! Should an emergency happen, who is going to be your backup caretaker?
4. Ask to be turned into a tree when they die (one of those tree capsules)...ok is this just something I want?!
5. Stress out about taking vacations and leaving the collection in someone else's care. Having some plants in a semi-hydro set up helps to ease this burden, as they can be left for longer periods of time without adding more water to the pot.
6. Eat meat exclusively so their plants don't become traumatized (ok, kidding)
